GRATITUDES:
  • Thank you God my niece turned 5 this week.
  • Thank you God You are God.
  • Thank you God for my Quiet Times.
  • Thank you God that You rock!
THOUGHTS:
  • Have not worked out at all in almost two weeks.  Boo on me, but I have still been physically active with light hiking when we are out of town and light walking, but nothing too strenuous.  Next week my schedule should be back to normal until Thanksgiving week, so that will definitely help.
  • Despite not working out and eating bad intermittently, my weight is still down.  Praise God!  Portion control and not over eating help tremendously.  We've really eaten far too much fast food, and my fast from fast food got blown during our kids' Fall Break.  My bad.
  • I dreaded getting my labs done and going to see my doctor regarding my sugar issues.  I have not done what he's told me to, which was to lose about 20 lbs and to see him in the summer.  It's now fall.  And he wanted me to do high intensity for 30 min. every day.  From my logs, you can see that's not been the case with the exercise and it is intermittent.  I've lost 8 lbs from my last visit in June, which was not for my sugar stuff, rather for pains in my right arm and neck areas.  However, from March, I have lost about 18 lbs, so, I guess that would count for nearly 20 lbs.
  • My results came back all trending in the right direction.  He took results from Jan'12, Dec'12, Mar'13, and Oct'13.  Everything that was too high has been steadily coming down.  My cholesterol and blood sugars are nearly in the good range, so I would surmise if I was a bit more diligent with my exercise, and lost another 10 lbs, all would be good.  My triglycerides are now well within normal ranges and all the other stuff he had checked all came back good.
  • My husband really deserves the credit in helping me get these numbers to this level as we are together all the time and he periodically now helps keep me on track with my eating.  The exercise thing is more me, as I do more of this than him.  I realize you don't have to starve yourself, deprive yourself of the foods you love. However, you cannot eat infinite amounts nor eat them all the time.  I'm sure if my fast food meals decreased to 10% of what they are now and exercising just 3 times a week consistently, that 10 lbs should come off easily.
  • Yesterday (Friday) evening was an amazing time for my husband, kids and I and we really devoted the evening to family time together.  My husband played the guitar as my daughter and I sang - Fail Us Not.  My husband was able to quickly learn how to play this and I found out my daughter has a beautiful voice and my voice wasn't as good.  But we had a great time singing together.  Maybe as we get this sounding better, we can do a video of it.  My son joined, but he was being goofy and we didn't like that so he chose to not continue to sing with us.  My husband played chess with our son to help prepare him for his Chess Tournament Saturday.
