Wk 2, Day 1 - Monday, 28-Jul-2014

WORSHIP SONG:
Lay Down My Guns - Sanctus Real

5 GRATITUDES (Thank you, Heavenly Papa!):
  • Thank you God for good pest control.
  • Thank you God for clean laundry.
  • Thank you God for my workouts.
  • Thank you God for my husband's persistency in getting a job.
  • Thank you God for our kids.
THOUGHTS:
  • Today my husband got a rejection from the company he interviewed in person last Wednesday.  Today he also had an interview and was honest with WF and they decided he wasn't a good fit and they wanted a more senior level software engineer.  So, now he is hearing more back from companies and they have been rejections.  So, he is getting closer to when he will be hired by the right company whom will get to totally benefit from him.
  • Got to share some stuff about trigger points with Daniel, our pest control guy, to help him.  Very thankful for him.  Told him we had more scorpions this past month than in quite awhile.  He said this month and next are the worst for scorpions.  He said it could be solved by my dad getting rid of a bunch of stuff, but we know that's not going to happen.  He said that would cut our pest control bill in half or more.
  • I have noticed the more involved my mom is with us, the more I drink soda.  I've got to seek God here and utilize EFT and better speak God's Word when stuff happens rather than resort to turning to sodas.  They are loaded with awful sugar.
  • Finally tossing the 4 Cup Mr. Coffee maker out because it's no longer safe to use.  We got a Black & Decker 5 cup coffee maker from Target, but I really like the Mr. Coffee one we had.  Super easy to use and the B&D is not quite as easy to use, though, it looks much better.  We got this last week after it shorted the kitchen.

In her directions, she said to do 2 rounds for time, but I think she did 3.  I did 2 rounds.

Vacation 2014 - Days 7 thru 11, 11-Jul to 15-Jul-2014

We have driven nearly 4,000 miles in the past 11 days.  Wow.  Only 5 more days of our vacation and my husband and I are catching up on sleeping and trying to not do too much right now.

No matter where we have gone, we have brought the Arizona heat wherever we went.  We are enjoying our time as the kids and we have thousands of pictures.

Feet are tired from all the hiking.  I am now peeling from being sunburned last week.

My daughter and I have a lot of mosquito bites.  They didn't seem to really like my husband and son.

We have kept our eating expenses down by buying groceries and many of our meals are sandwiches and snacks.

Maybe I'll write more later, but I also need a break.  I should be back home and back to my workouts next week.

WORSHIP SONG:
What Love Looks Like - Among the Thirsty

5 GRATITUDES (Thank you, Heavenly Papa!):
  • Thank you God for a nicer place to stay.
  • Thank you God for safety in driving.
  • Thank you God for Your amazing scenery.
  • Thank you God for food to eat.
  • Thank you God for technology.
THOUGHTS:
  • We've spent more on food than I planned, which I planned on us making sandwiches, but it's been a challenge to do this, although we brought stuff with us, with the limited space we have.  We were in 4 states and it's beautiful countryside.  We notice speed limits greatly vary from state to state, as well as how the drivers driver.

We are seeing lots of beautiful scenery and in some parts, it's fairly remote.  Lots of green and gorgeous areas.  Overall people are friendly.  It's been hotter than we thought it would be.  Eventually it would be nice to have a big, newer vehicle that gets good gas mileage and low maintenance to travel in.  The car is small and drives well, and way less expensive to gas up than our Explorer, but room is a commodity and there just isn't a lot of room.

We have all been eating less, so I'm guessing we'll all lose some weight.  The big cities can be intimidating.  The small towns price gouge.  So far, we've found the Phx area's gas to be far less than anywhere else.  We haven't hit $4/gal yet, but close.  Our biggest expenses are lodging, gas, food.

Thankfully the next few days we are in a medium city and there are big supermarkets to buy stuff.  Hopefully we can save there, but I wish this room had a microwave as the last one did.  But, it's a lot cleaner.

My husband is doing 99% of the driving and I didn't realize how rusty I am at driving outside of the Phx area, as he always does the driving.  I become nervous Nellie at times.  I appreciate that he can stay awake and let me relax some.  I think he gets nervous when I drive because I get nervous.

Did hiking.  Love fresh clean air!!!
ACTIONS:
  • Probiotic & 2x krill oil - forgot
  • My heart meds, hair supps, Multi-vitamins, cinnamon, Zn, Mg, Ca, selenium supp, Vit E - breakfast
  • Water - a little
  • Did EFT for:  none
  • Trigger Point Work (or Myofascia Release) - none
  • TENS unit - none
SLEEP:
  • ??? - 6:15 am - not enough sleep and had a hard time sleeping after I woke up at 3:30 am, but I did eventually fall back asleep
FOOD JOURNAL:
Breakfast (8:00 am) - a raisin bagel with cream cheese and blueberry yogurt, some apple juice

Snack (???) - orange Fanta, some cookies, chips

Lunch:  (12:15 pm) - McDouble, some fries

Dinner:  (8:00 pm) - McDouble, some fries ---> This cost more than double where we were at on everything.

  • I was really stressing about our trip, but somehow I think everything will be fine.  We are all coming together fine and though we don't have all our reservations and things planned, we'll be okay.  This is my first major road trip without any of my mom or siblings.  I have never taken a trip like this before and it's exciting.  We don't have most things planned out, but a general idea for the first 9 days of our trip.  It's really kind of adventurous and exciting.

Wk 18, Day 4 - Thursday, 3-Jul-2014

WORSHIP SONG:
Multiplied - NEEDTOBREATHE

5 GRATITUDES (Thank you, Heavenly Papa!):
  • Thank you God for Your Amazing Goodness!
  • Thank you God I am all caught up on my subcon work.
  • Thank you God I am not going to worry about not working.
  • Thank you God for all that we got done today.
  • Thank you God for my family.
THOUGHTS:
  • The service woman at Ford, KM, was much better than the male service men that I've dealt with.  She fixed the front bumper that was loose.  When I asked them to do that the last oil change, they didn't do it.  I didn't even say anything to KM and she noticed it and had it fixed, free of charge.
  • I worked a lot today, despite having to go to the library, to the UPS store, to drop off the car to get an oil change, to pick it up, attend to the termite guy, to fix why the Explorer's A/C wasn't blowing cold air (low on coolant).  Amazed that I finished up yesterday's work which took a good portion of this morning and I didn't get my work until 1 pm and spent about 3 hrs running errands.  But, I am done at 10 pm.
  • Glad our kids handled the meals - fixing lunch and dinner.  Trying to get rid of all the leftovers before we leave for our vacation.  Still so much to do.
  • Tomorrow my brother & SIL have a 4th of July party.  We'll go for a little bit, but we just don't have time to stay for that long.  I need to also get some subcon work done because I don't get paid unless I work.  They are paying a lot more tomorrow and through the weekend.  I only have time to work tomorrow as I am not taking my subcon accessories on vacation.  I promised my husband and kids I would not work on our vacation.
  • The termite guy came out and we do have termites in the house, but it is relegated to just the kitchen.  Thankfully there is nothing outside the house.  My dad has agreed to pay for this treatment and it has a 1 year guarantee.  It's the same company that does our pest control, which we pay for, but my dad will pay for the termite treatment.  He also recommended any wood near the house not be next to the house and any wood have a barrier between it and the ground.  He also said to not have soil and moisture near the house, as that attracts termites.  So, glad we are catching this early.  Don't want the termites going to other areas of the house, but that is also in the guarantee.
  • I checked out a bunch of DVDs to take on vacation from the library.  Hopefully no one will request them otherwise I will have to call the library as we won't be back for 2 weeks or so.
  • The kids got a lot of cleaning done, which is great.  Tomorrow is laundry day and packing.
  • Disappointed I didn't get a workout in, but just too much stress this week and I didn't want to stress my body out further by adding more physical stress, though, it's not totally bad, but with my history of over exercise, not good.  I was going to do my workout until I saw this video this morning by Dr. Berg -

Wk 18, Day 2 - Tuesday, 1-Jul-2014

WORSHIP SONG:
Start a Fire - Unspoken

5 GRATITUDES (Thank you, Heavenly Papa!):
  • Thank you God I got to save more than 80% on the kids' school books from Half.
  • Thank you God for the kids' willingness to help plan the vacation.
  • Thank you God the kids are resourceful.
  • Thank you God that I'm able to somewhat function, despite so little sleep.
  • Thank you God today is a new day.
THOUGHTS:
  • The school book lists came out for my kids' school 12:01 am.  I had a plan of attack on how I would get these books and knew that the kids' school has a vendor we can buy from and most of the time, they are A LOT more expensive than I can get.  They give all the ISBN numbers, so that was what I was looking for.

Last year, I found that if I bought all the books from half.com, I could save a ton of money.  I did a comparison between several places - the schools' vendor, Amazon, Amazon Marketplace, Half, and a couple other places that sell school books.  It turned out buying off of Half was the least expensive overall because if you buy multiple items (you get discount shipping on items 2 and beyond from that same seller).

Some of those same sellers are on Marketplace, but the shipping is the same for every item no matter how many you buy from the same seller.  I can get free shipping from Amazon, but when a book costs even $7 with free shipping, I can buy from Half for $0.75 + $1.89 shipping, so that obviously the total is much less.

The school's vendor it would have cost over $600 and they didn't even have 2 of the books, which would have brought it closer to $700, as they were the ones that cost more than $0.75 for me.  I ended up paying $132.45 for 27 books, and 9 of them were big textbooks.  I can't believe how many books these kids have to get.  Most of the 27 were consumables.

I'm thankful the one book I have chosen each year to not get was their Latin textbook for at home use.  That is an expensive book, but it's also small, so my son can bring his home.  His big textbooks, I bought copies for him to have at home and he will have copies at school already from the book deposit that every student needs to have.  Having an extra copy of his textbooks at home, minus the Latin, allows him to not have to carry a super heavy backpack ladened down.  Same with my daughter.  Thankfully we have our daughter's 7th and 8th grade and hope they are the same so we don't have to rebuy.

Oops, I forgot about our daughter's Spanish class, so that is another $25.  It would have been another $147 from the school's vendor.  So basically if we average out what I would have spent total with this vendor would have been near $750 and I still needed to find 3 of the books elsewhere because they didn't have it.  So, really, maybe $850-900 for school books for a 6th and 9th grader?  Good grief.
  • Despite having so little sleep, I did alright.  Peace between my husband and I.
  • My husband and I went and picked up a bunch of free maps and guides from AAA.  Lots of stuff and the lady was really nice.
  • Took me a long time to get my work done today, but I was tired, but wasn't sleepy enough to take a nap, though I tried.  Just feeling very wired.
  • My daughter really helped out a lot.  She did the laundry partially, the harder part while I was running errands and she also got dinner for us.  My son did lunch for me.  So the kids really helped out a lot and helped me be less stressed.  Thank you, God.  My son wanted to clean the bathroom, but I said wait until Thursday, because I want things cleaned before we go on vacation.
  • Was able to schedule for our pest control company to come out to see if my dad's house has termites.  He keeps a lot of stuff against the house and it's not good.  Safety hazard, but also invites bugs and stuff into the place.  They originally couldn't fit us in, but as I asked and insisted, they found an hour for us.  It's not our normal bug guy that comes out, who is going on vacation, too.
  • My dad is feeling much better and has been doing his normal stuff.  No issues.  That's really good.

  • Thank you God for Your Word impacting the kids.
  • Thank you God for the kids' help in things.
  • Thank you God for prayer.
  • Thank you God for A/C.
THOUGHTS:
  • It took me a super long time to get my subcon work done, and it shouldn't have.  So many interruptions that in the end, it made me very irritable.
  • A lot left to plan our vacation, which I don't know will happen because my husband is mad at me and doesn't want to go.  Very mature because if we don't go, the kids will be disappointed and very hurt.  Everyone's been looking forward to this, yet it's been hard because all our trips, I am the one that has to do most of the work and this time, because I am completely overwhelmed in stuff and asking for help, my husband is balking at this.  I need to help him to help me.  Then, why would I need his help if I have to do it all anyway?  The kids are willing to do whatever it takes to go.  My husband doesn't have the same mentality.

THOUGHTS:
